extended the shooting session.
This
time with only one speedlight. The tripod was
extended to position the Vivitar 285 inches away
from the underside of the floor. The head was
then angled to bounce the light onto the student.
With
the Vivitar between the floor joists, the effect
was spectacular, similar to a strip light with
barndoors. It created a very narrow yet soft beam
that wrapped naturally around the student. Due
to the barndoor effect, the highly distracting
background now receded to darkness.
One
speedlight and it saved the day. Compare this
with the first attempt (second thumbnail) and
you can see the difference in visual impact. Same
location, same subject, different lighting.
